“Remember the Sabbath day and keep it holy.”
-Exodus 20:8
The wisdom of Sabbath-keeping is in the fourth commandment given to Moses. Jesus continued this practice by inviting his followers to "Come away to a quiet place all by yourselves and rest for a while." (Mark 6:31)
The mission of The Sabbath House is to provide a place where people may experience Sabbath.
The principle of Sabbath has always been important, but in our contemporary culture, characterized by high stress and over-commitment, it is essential that we recover the wisdom of this practice. We believe that the Sabbath principle is the foundation of spiritual, emotional, and physical health. Those who have the opportunity to refresh body and soul are able to be more effective in their personal, family, and vocation lives.
High atop a secluded mountain in the Alarka community of Swain County, North Carolina, the Sabbath House is a place to experience rest, explore the principle of Sabbath, and practice Sabbath-keeping.
Let us welcome you to The Sabbath House.
